A Guqin experience event was held at the library on the evening of December 10th, jointly organized by the Harbin Institute of Technology Library and the International Education College, drawing numerous international students to participate. Li Shuguo, the Chairman of the Heilongjiang Provincial Musicians Association and an inheritor of the intangible cultural heritage of Guqin art in Heilongjiang Province, led everyone on a journey into the world of Guqin culture.

Li recounted the long history of Guqin, describing its rich heritage accumulated over millennia. He also introduced the exquisite craftsmanship of the Guqin and knowledge about its musical notations. Li also performed several classic Guqin pieces, with the music ranging from passionate and vigorous to gentle and melodious, allowing everyone present to feel the Guqin's essence of peace and equilibrium, as well as the Chinese spirit of harmony in diversity.

During the practical session, Li Shuguo patiently guided the students in playing the Guqin, demonstrating finger techniques and explaining the emotions behind each musical note. The international students couldn’t wait to ty their hands on Guqin, immersing themselves in the unique charm of Chinese culture.

Guqin, an intangible cultural heritage of China, carries the spiritual aspirations of the Chinese people. We hope that the international students will take these cultural memories back to their countries and contribute for cultural exchanges between China and the world.
