Article 1 Library Entry Rules are formulated to standardize readers' behaviors, maintain public order within the library, and ensure its normal operation.

Article 2 These regulations apply to all the readers of HIT Library, including faculty, students, and other authorized personnel who have been granted access to the library.

Article 3 Regulations on Seats

Readers are required to reserve a seat via HIT APP or on in-library terminal devices before entering the library, and sit on the reserved seat after entry.

Each person can reserve only one seat per time.

If you need to leave the library temporally, scan the QR code on the table via HIT App  and select Temporary Leave. Make sure to return within the specified time, or else the seat would be released.

If you leave the library without selecting “Temporally Leave” on HIT App, the seat would be released after you leave the library.

Hooks are installed under the desks. Please hang your bags or clothes on the hooks or place them in the lockers. Do not leave your personal belongings on other tables and chairs.

Article 4 No food should be brought into the library in order to keep the library clean and the air fresh.

Article 5 Regulations on Article Storage

Private belongings are prohibited from being stored in public areas of the library (including but not limited to fire exits, emergency escape routes, the tops of locker cabinets, bookshelves, bookcases, and other spaces). Please store your personal items in the designated lockers. Any items left in violation of this rule will be removed and treated as unclaimed property.

When leaving the library, please make sure to take all your personal belongings, dispose of any trash in the designated bins, return unborrowed books to  the book-returning box, and place the chairs back under the desks.

Article 6 Rules for Reader Conduct

When entering the library, please dress appropriately and behave civilly. Do not disturb others, occupy others’ seats, or damage public property.

Please don’t make loud noises in the library, including but not limited to behaviors that may disrupt others' study ( like answering/making phone calls, discussing loudly, or conducting online meetings).

It’s recommended that the readers use silent mice and keyboards to reduce noise.

Without prior consent or approval, no posters, flyers, or other promotional materials may be arbitrarily placed, posted, or distributed within the library. Additionally, activities such as unauthorized filming, photography, interviews, or questionnaire distribution that may disrupt readers' study are prohibited.

The use of public screens in seminar rooms other than learning or seminars (like gaming or live streaming) are prohibited.

Periodicals, magazines and newspapers in the reading area are for in-library reading only and must not be taken out.

Article7 Safety Management

Inflammable, explosive, toxic, harmful substances and other dangerous goods are strictly prohibited to be brought into the library. Smoking is strictly forbidden throughout the venue (including restrooms and corridors). The use of high-power electrical appliances, open flames, rechargeable battery packs, and other similar equipment is strictly prohibited.

Take care of public facilities. Damaging, moving, or misappropriating fire-fighting facilities, locker cabinets, bookcases, and other such facilities is prohibited.

Article 8 Consequences of Violating the Above Provisions

Those who violate the above provisions will be dissuaded by library staff. For those who commit serious violations or refuse to comply after repeated dissuasion, the case will be reported to the Library Director's Office, and their library access privileges will be restricted with a notification sent to the affiliated department/college.
