To inherit and promote China's excellent traditional culture, the HIT Library held an intangible cultural heritage paper-cutting event in its connected corridor nearby on the morning of March 26th. Anda paper-cutting (from a county in Heilongjiang Province) is the fourth batch of intangible cultural heritage projects in Heilongjiang, carrying the cultural memories and folk customs of the local people. The event specially invited Ms. Sun Xiuying, a paper-cutting inheritor and a National Master of Arts and Crafts, to teach on site. With over four decades of dedication to paper-cutting art, she has received numerous honors. Her works, primarily featuring red, black, and blue hues and employing various techniques, blend ethnic charm with creativity, and have won multiple awards in national and provincial competitions.

Ms. Sun taught patiently and explained in detail, demonstrating various techniques in the art of paper-cutting while sharing the inheritance stories and cultural meanings behind it. This allowed everyone present to fully experience the charm of Chinese traditional art. The event brought this non-heritage art out of museums and onto the university campus, enriching our extracurricular lives and enabling us to experience the beauty of traditional Chinese culture. We will continue to look forward to the series of cultural activities that the library will launch in the future, as well as the efforts it makes towards the cultural development of HIT!
