The National Museum of Chinese Writing Visits HIT

——To Embrace a Rendezvous with Oracle Bone Civilization

    Oracle bone inscriptions are the earliest mature writing system discovered in China to date. They are the origin of Chinese characters and the root of fine traditional Chinese culture, and they deserve to be cherished and better preserved and carried forward.

    The HIT Library has specially invited the National Museum of Chinese Writing to our campus. Through exhibitions, lectures, and interactive experiences, faculty and students can touch the roots of Chinese characters up close and experience the unique charm of a millennial cultural legacy—all within our campus steeped in the fragrance of books. These events aims to deepen cultural confidence and nurture humanistic sentiments among our university community.

 

Activity 1: Themed Photo Exhibition

Time: 21-29 May 2026

Venue: Warm Corridor Connecting Library and Xueyuan Cafeteria

    The HIT Library presents a special photo exhibition on oracle bone inscriptions. This exhibition will guide faculty and students on a journey through three thousand years of history, revisiting the inscribed civilization of oracle bones and experiencing the profound depth and enduring vitality of Chinese culture.

 

Activity 2: Interactive Cultural Experience of Chinese Characters

Time: 21 May 2026

Venue: Library Cultural Warm Corridor

    This interactive experience features four signature activities that immerse you in the charm of ancient Chinese writing: custom bag making, the Carved in the Heart oracle bone script engraving experience, the traditional intangible cultural heritage — oracle bone script block printing experience, and the bamboo slip binding experience.
